Buses on diversion – again

I just found out the hard way that buses are on diversion again and aren’t serving stops between North Cheam and the A217 at Cheam Village.
Buses are diverted and unable to serve bus stops on The Broadway and Malden Road each night from 2000 to 0600 Monday 11 until Wednesday 13 November during resurfacing works on Malden Road.
My scenic tour of the borough coming back from Sutton took me along the A217 – rather than going into Cheam Village – left into Sutton Common Road, left along the A24 to North Cheam then right at the lights to take us back onto Cheam Common Road to regain the usual route – phew!

Longer trains through Worcester Park

Tenders should now be in connection with South West Trains request for companies to build and maintain a new fleet of three and five car train sets which will be operated in trains up to 10 carriages long.
The first trains will enter service in July 2016 and the rest of the order will be delivered within the following year.
It therefore looks like you will have to continue travelling in the the current eight coach trains for a few years more, but at least progress is in sight.

Businesses complain of ‘worst ever’ traffic in Worcester Park

Traffic has hit “total gridlock” in Worcester Park after roadworks appeared to repair a manhole cover.

Businesses have said it is a “diabolical” situation, and one man said it is the worst he has ever seen it.

Worcester Park improvements started

You may have noticed some traffic warning signs have appeared and the number of poles sticking out of the ground in Central Road has increased. This activity marks the start of the improvements which are being made to Central Road, Worcester Park with financial input from the Mayor of London’s Outer London Fund.
The extra poles are for our shiny new LED street lamps which will replace existing lamps and thereby reduce our electricity bills. Other improvements will, subject to final planning consents, include a new bus stop outside Brabham Court, one-way traffic between Central Road and Stone Place car park, shop front improvements and changes to junctions, pavements and planting.
